  • Could you please advise of the overall tax increase for 2019. I believe the local was 1.88%. Could you also please advise of what you are projecting for 2020 - local and overall. Thank you.

Linda Schippers asked 27 days ago

Hello Linda, thank you for your questions.

The 2019 City Budget required a 1.88% increase on Oshawa’s portion of a resident’s tax bill (41% of total tax bill) and represented an increase in the total tax bill of approximately $41.19 on a property (based on a home assessed at $356,000).

The proposed 2020 City Budget will be presented to Council on Friday, November 8. Information regarding changes to the City’s tax rate will be available then on this project page and on the Budget webpage. The City is unable to forecast how the Region of Durham or Province (for local school boards) tax rates will change for 2020.

  • Will more money be used for subsidized housing?

    Dave asked 3 months ago

Hi Dave, thanks for your question. The responsibility for housing falls under the Region of Durham.  More information can be found on the Region’s website.
