Information Technology Services Plan

Consultation has concluded

The City is preparing an Information Technology Services Plan (the Plan) that will define the City’s strategic goals for information technology for the next three years. The Plan will help identify appropriate technology to deliver and improve service to its customers and the Corporation.

Municipal best practices, the impact of emerging technologies and input from City Council, City staff, community stakeholders and the public are being considered in development of the Plan.

Members of the public are invited to provide feedback on their experience with current City online services and online services being considered for the future. Feedback can be shared by completing a feedback form:

The deadline to provide feedback is 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 20, 2019. Feedback received will be considered in the development of the Plan and the action plan that will be presented to the Corporate Services Committee.

Hi AdamRyanWhite, thank you for your comments.

The City currently offers many Online Services to both residents and the general public. This includes Service Oshawa Online, Pay a Ticket, Purchase a Pet License, ActiveOshawa registration, Occasional Use Parking Permits (among others). Through our Open Data Portal, we make a variety of digital data available to the public  (e.g. street network, zoning). We also enable public viewing of City Council meetings, and Committee meetings through Webstreaming technology, and provide interactive GIS mapping.

The Information Technology Services Plan feedback form gives the public an opportunity to offer an opinion on additional Online services that we could provide in the future (what would you like to do online that you can’t already?). We would also like to know what you think about your current experiences  online. The link to the IT Services webpage describes the structure of the City’s Information Technology department. IT Staff work with all City business units to deliver the online experiences that you see today – and that we are planning for in the future.
